This lake is more like a lagoon, which gets flooded every now and then by the glacial river Tungnaá and is named after two cone shaped, low mountains in the immediate vicinity. Litli-Kýlingur and Stóri-Kýlingur. Mt. Kirkjufell with its highest brinks decorated with obsidian, protrudes above it and you can hardly expect to find more beautiful spreads of cotton grass anywhere else in the country. The catch can be very good, especially after the lake has been flooded.
